Henry Blakes

Meteorologist Henry Blakes, a Baton Rouge native, has joined the WAFB First Alert Weather team.

Blakes graduated from Southern University in 2005 with a degree in Physics and a minor in Mass Communication. He then earned his degree in Meteorology from Jackson State University.

He has spent the last 13 years as a meteorologist at KFYR-TV, a television station in Bismarck, North Dakota. During high school and college, Henry interned at WAFB in the sports and weather departments.

“Henry got his first exposure to broadcasting as an intern with Jay and I nearly 20 years ago and we’re excited to have him as the newest member of our First Alert Weather Team,” said WAFB Chief Meteorologist Dr. Steve Caparotta. “He knows our area and will quickly connect with viewers. As someone who has known Henry for years, I can tell you that you would be hard-pressed to find a nicer guy, and I think the people of our area will feel the same way.”
