Makayla Evans

Reporter, FOX Carolina News
Makayla Evans

Makayla began her career as the morning reporter for WMBF News in Myrtle Beach after graduating from the University of South Carolina in 2022. During her time on the coast, she worked as a multimedia journalist—shooting, writing, and editing her own stories while reporting live on-scene coverage.

In 2024, she was promoted to anchor for WMBF News at Noon in addition to her morning reporting duties. Over her four years at the beach, Makayla covered major weather events, including multiple hurricanes and two historic snowstorms. (Yes, at the beach!)

One of her most memorable assignments was breaking the story of a cross-burning in the Conway area. Her coverage reignited calls for a South Carolina hate crime law and ultimately prompted multiple local city and towns to pass their own hate crime ordinances.

Now, Makayla is thrilled to return home to the Upstate to share the stories of her community!
