32 elementary students fall ill during field trip to movie theater
DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC/Gray News) — More than 30 elementary school students became ill during a field trip to a movie theater on Monday.
Jennifer Passmore, public information officer for Dorchester School District 2, said 32 first- and second-graders from Eugene Sires Elementary School became ill at the movie theater.
It was determined that the students could return to the school, and they were seen by the school nurse.
The school district notified the South Carolina Department of Health.
“Student safety and care remain among our highest priorities,” the school said in a letter to parents. “We appreciate the quick response of our staff and healthcare personnel as we continue to monitor the situation and support our students and families.”
The movie theater has not been identified.
