51 dogs rescued from property in Ashdown
Dogs were living in ‘increasingly restrictive’ conditions, Animal Rescue Corps says
ASHDOWN, Ark. (KSLA) - The Animal Rescue Corps (ARC), a nationwide nonprofit that works to protect animals, recently carried out a large-scale rescue operation at a property in Ashdown.
Fifty-one dogs were removed from this former rescue property, representatives with ARC say. The dogs had been living in “increasingly restrictive” conditions, according to ARC.

Once the organization was made aware of the situation, they said they began working on Operation Broken Ties. The dogs were surrendered by court order after the former animal rescue was shut down.

“Many of these dogs have lived here for years,” ARC Executive Director Tim Woodward said. “Our focus now is giving them the space, care and stability they haven’t had.”
The dogs rescued are mostly large breeds, are reportedly friendly, and have all been spayed/neutered. At one point, the dogs were confined to small cages with limited daily release, ARC says. Those who responded to the property say the dogs had been moved to outdoor kennels before they got there.
“The goal was to prevent the situation from getting worse and becoming more detrimental for the dogs,” Woodward said. “Once it became clear that no one was stepping in for them, intervention was necessary.”

After the rescue, the dogs were taken to ARC’s Rescue Center outside Nashville, Tenn. There, they will all receive vet evaluations, enrichment, and long-term care planning.

ARC officials say Operation Broken Ties is the third large-scale operation they’ve done so far in 2026, with more than 100 dogs rescued in the last six weeks.
Police in the area say no charges are being filed in this case.
