Mom arrested for alleged role in sexual assault of child left for dead in Keithville
Mother’s boyfriend, Lucas Logan, previously arrested
KEITHVILLE, La. (KSLA) - The mother of a young child has been arrested for her alleged role in the sexual assault of the child.
On Wednesday, Sept. 17, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Shea Upshaw, 31, the mother of the 6-year-old victim. The mother’s boyfriend, Lucas Logan, also 31, was arrested back on Aug. 2.
Officials say during the investigation, Upshaw was interviewed multiple times. The sheriff’s office says she reportedly confessed to previously lying to officials to protect Logan. Upshaw reportedly admitted to cleaning up and removing evidence related to the reported sexual assault of her child.
An arrest warrant for Upshaw was issued Sept. 10, charging her with accessory after the fact and obstruction of justice. She was arrested Sept. 17 in Bossier Parish and booked into Caddo Correctional Center.
Logan, meanwhile, is facing 16 counts of production of child pornography involving juveniles, molestation of a juvenile, first-degree rape, and attempted first-degree murder.
Officials say the 6-year-old victim was taken to the hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries as a result of the attack, which reportedly happened at a home on Farmridge Road in Keithville back on Aug. 2. The sheriff’s office says the child was found lying “nearly lifeless.”
This isn’t the first time Logan has been arrested though.
On May 18, 2024, Logan was booked for domestic abuse aggravated assault with child endangerment. He pleaded guilty to that charge in September of 2024. He was sentenced to two years in jail with credit for time served. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim, and was ordered to complete an anger management class.
And in April of 2017, he was charged with disturbing the peace, possession of marijuana, and parole fugitive. He failed to appear in court for this case. A bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
And a year before that, he was charged with disturbing the peace (drunkenness), disturbing the peace (language/disorderly conduct), and in-state fugitive. According to parish records, Logan also failed to appear in court to be sentenced in this case. A bench warrant for his arrest was issued in November of 2016.
In March of 2015, he was charged with second-degree battery. Logan took a plea deal and was allowed to plead guilty to the lesser charge of simple battery. Two months later, a judge sentenced him to pay court costs and $50 to the Northwest Louisiana Crime Lab. He was also sentenced to 90 days in parish jail with credit for time served.
And two years before that, he was again charged with disturbing the peace/simple assault. The DA dismissed this case.
Logan’s criminal history continues back to 2012, when he was charged with felony theft in September and unauthorized use of a movable in July. On the unauthorized use of a movable charge, Logan pleaded guilty in April of 2013 and was ordered by the judge to pay a fine of $150 plus court costs. His jail sentence was suspended, and he was given six months of supervised probation. He was also given credit for time served. There has been no movement in the theft case since 2013.
All of the above charges are out of Caddo Parish.
In Bossier Parish, Logan has an arrest from January of 2017 for possession of schedule II and schedule IV narcotics. There has been no movement in that case since 2022, according to online court records.
