NEW BOSTON, Texas (KSLA) - Happy 250-year birthday to the U.S. Army!

The community and employees at Red River Army Depot gathered today to celebrate 250 years of the U.S. Army, making it the nation’s oldest military branch. Depot commander Col. Dennis Fajardo said the celebration was important because of what the army does to defend freedoms around the world and at home.

The Colonel said today was also a time to reflect on what the depot has done in supporting the army and serving the Ark-La-Tex.

“It’s also important for us at Red River as an 82-year-old institution that has been supporting democracy and freedoms of our country, making the war fighter ready, that’s important to celebrate as well,” says Col. Fajardo, Commander of the Red River Army Depot.

Col. Fajardo said we have another 250 years to look forward to with Red River Army Depot and the Army.
