Larry Lewis arrested on federal charge one day after being questioned, released by police
SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - The man who was questioned and released for a deadly robbery at Walgreens has now been arrested on a federal charge.
Officials with the Shreveport Police Department tell KSLA they assisted with Larry Lewis’ arrested alongside ATF. SPD K-9 Karo also assisted in the arrest.
He was jailed Thursday (Jan. 30) at 7 p.m., according to city jail records.
Police say just before 5 p.m. on Jan. 30 is when SPD officers help federal agents execute the warrant on Lewis. It all happened in the 2600 block of Fulton Street.
Lewis was seen inside a shed/garage on the property, and after detectives made several verbal attempts to get him to surrender peacefully, he refused to comply, police report. That’s when K-9 Karo was brought out to the scene.
Karo’s handler issued a number of commands for Lewis to come out, however, Lewis continued to ignore instructions. K-9 Karo was deployed into the garage and found Lewis hiding under a pile of debris. Officers were then able to take Lewis into custody.
Personnel with the fire department showed up to treat Lewis' minor injuries, which he sustained during his apprehension.
