BOWIE COUNTY, Texas (KSLA) - Early voting in Texas is wrapping up. And while the lines in Bowie County are not as long as they were at the start of early voting, there’s still steady turnout on the final day as voters cast their ballots.

“I just wanted to beat the crowd. This was my first time early voting. It was nice and quick,” said Texas voter Johnny Conner.

[It’s] just so important that everyone get out and vote. This is an important election. No matter who you vote for, just vote and let’s make something happen,” said Texas voter Lorenzo Kelly.

As of 10 a.m., on Nov. 1, there were 25,488 ballots cast in Bowie County. Pat McCoy, an election coordinator, said this represents around 41% of registered voters in Bowie County.

“There is so much enthusiasm and angst about this election that everybody has gotten out and voted early,” said McCoy.

The Bowie County election coordinator said it appears that the large number of early voters can be seen across the state of Texas. McCoy said they are now gearing up for election day Tuesday (Nov. 5).

“We will have 25 locations opened for election day just remember in bowie county they can vote at any of our 25 locations and we will be there and be prepared for whatever the turnout is,” said McCoy.
