Residents stocking up on gas, essential goods for incoming frigid weather
SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Shoppers around the ArkLaTex are stocking up on essential items before forecasted wintry weather sweeps in.
“It’s cold out here. I rather come out while I can, get what I need and make sure the house is stored good,” resident Mary Tramell said.
“Preparing to make sure our power doesn’t go down, got enough fuel to keep the generator running,” Ryan Fontenot said.
Grocery stores and gas stations across Shreveport were extra busy today as people are made preparations for extreme winter weather next week. Popular items among shoppers are things like bottled water, boxed and canned foods and generators. And many took the time to fill up on gas.
“You know, this is really happening. This is stuff we only hear about. And I’ve got a lot of water because the last snowstorm, I ran out of water,” Gwendolyn Henry said.
If you need to stock up on items before it gets too cold, you should go to the store as soon as possible. Many stores said they’re already sold out of some items like bottled water.
