Cedric Glover has taken the oath of office and is now Mayor of Shreveport, Louisiana.  Mayor Glover is the first African-American to hold the position of mayor in this city.  Mayor Glover began his inaugural address with a moment of silence in honor of Louisiana State Representative Hoppy Hopkins who was laid to rest today.

Mayor Glover repeated a saying he used during the campaign - Shreveport is the next great city of the south.  Glover says it's not just campaign rhetoric... he says it's a dream he has and everyone can share.  "Today we begin our journey, our walk together in making that dream a reality".
