"The Standard" expected to be ready for residents by November

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - We're getting an inside look at The Standard.
The high-rise luxury apartments are being built inside the former Commercial National Bank building in downtown Shreveport.
Construction of the apartments, which started late last year, is getting close to its final stages.
The building's 72 units will combine modern luxury with the history of the Shreveport building.
Vic Desai, a partner at ViaNova Development, took KSLA News 12 for a tour of the building.
"You can see plenty of windows and natural light. We're definitely going for that rustic wood floor look, offsetting with black trim, black doors," he explained while showing a one-bedroom apartment.
Some touches will keep the building's history in place like leaving ceiling pieces unfinished or keeping the Commercial National Bank logo on elevator doors.
A major aspect of the rooms is the impressive views.
"Having the opportunity to live in the buildings itself is gonna be unique to the city."
"Where else can you go where you have a view of your two biggest arteries coming into the city? A view down Texas Street and a view down Market Street."
That's in addition to amenities like a dog-walking area and food hall, just to name a few other things planned.
The developers see all of it fitting in well with the vision for downtown Shreveport's future.
"We like the energy local businesses have and local residents have, and we just want to help push along that process,' said Desai.
The apartments should be done around the end of September or October with move-in hopefully expected in November.
