Marshall, TX, to hold City Hall in the Park back-to-school bash

Marshall, Texas, will hold its City Hall in the Park back-to-School bash from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Lions Park.

The city again is partnering with Marshall Against Violence for a giveaway that will include folders, glue sticks, notebooks, pencils and other school supplies.

The school supplies will cover Marshall Independent School District school supply lists for kindergarten through 12th grade as well as for young adults in college.

The back-to-school bash will be more than just a school supply giveaway.

"This is a great event and is an opportunity for our community to come together and connect with each other," said Cory Smith, the city's communications coordinator.

There will be free hot dogs, bottled water, chips and cookies.

Plus, Marshall police will pass out ice cream through their Cool Cops program.

"We hope you will join us to have fun and take advantage of this school supplies giveaway," Smith said. "We had a lot of people attend this event last year, and we hope to have even more this year."

Police and fire department vehicles will be on display for children to see.

And youths will be able to get their pictures taken with police officers and firefighters.
