Texas Education Agency releases grading system for school districts, schools

EAST TEXAS (KSLA) - The Texas Education Agency has released grades for schools, and school districts, allowing parents to see how their child's education ranks in the state.

Recently, the Texas legislature passed House Bill 22, allowing for the rating of the academic performance of schools and districts on three domains: Student Achievement, School Progress, and Closing the Gaps.

Districts will receive an A through F grade for overall performance, and performance in each domain beginning this year.

Campuses will be graded beginning in Aug. 2019.

Below are the first grades for East Texas school districts:
