Man shot while driving down the street; suspect arrested
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Police have arrested a man for firing shots at an apartment complex and shooting another man as he traveled down the street.
It began around 1 a.m. Monday when patrol officers responded to a local hospital on reports of Javon Young, 24, arriving with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to his leg.
They soon learned Young was travelling down Mansfield Road, near Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, when a vehicle pulled next to him and someone began firing multiple rounds into his car. The same person allegedly fired several shots at the Cambridge Court Apartment Complex, in the 9000 block of Mansfield Road, earlier in the night.
Officers went to the complex where they located several witnesses and three suspects, 28-year-old Denzel Thomas, of the 4100 block of Twin Oak Circle, 27-year-old Justin Howard, of the 9000 block of Mansfield Road, and Lorenzo Thomas, of the 4100 block of Twin Oaks Circle. They also seized marijuana and five weapons.
After interviews with all of the witnesses and the suspects, investigators concluded that Denzel Thomas was believed to be responsible for the shots fired in the apartment complex as well shooting Young on the roadway. He was charged with one count each of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Illegal Use of a Weapon, and Attempted First Degree Murder.
Justin Howard was charged with one count each of Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana and Trigger Lock.
Lorenzo Thomas was charged with one count each of Possession with The Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Trigger lock, and warrants for Access Device Fraud, Criminal Property Damage, Domestic Abuse Battery, Driving under Suspension, and General Speed Law.
All three men were booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
