SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - The Caddo Parish Coroner has released the identity of one of the killed in an overnight shooting in West Shreveport.
George Lee Jr., 36, of Shreveport, was found by police officers just after 3 a.m. in the 4100 block of Fairfax Avenue.
Officers say concerned citizens reported hearing numerous gunshots, followed by what sounded like a vehicle crash. When they arrived at the scene, Lee, was found in the front passenger seat of a stolen Ford Expedition.
Police believe he was traveling northbound in an SUV when he was shot several times. He was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.
Paramedics rushed him to University Health Hospital where he died due to his injuries.
"This kind of stuff around here is uncalled for," said Michael Norman, a resident of the neighborhood for close to 20 years. "II hear about it on TV, but never this close."
Despite the latest act of violence in Shreveport, he describes the neighborhood as being rather peaceful.
"It's peaceful and quiet, everyone goes back and forth to work and comes home," said Norman. "It's kind of strange for it to happen over here."
While on the scene of the incident, authorities were notified of a second male, a 35-year-old man, who is believed to have been the driver of the SUV.
He was found a short distance away suffering from what appeared to be a significant lower leg injury, likely sustained during the incident.
He was taken to a Shreveport hospital where he later died.
Following a search, authorities located weapons and narcotics inside the SUV. They believe more people may have been inside the vehicle when the incident occurred.
Police do not have any suspects. An autopsy has been ordered.
