SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - The Caddo Parish Coroner's office has identified the man shot and killed during an altercation at a Shreveport skate park.

James Tinsley, 62, was shot several times in his upper body Monday, August 6, in the 700 block of East Stoner, near Stoner Avenue Skate Plaza. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Authorities say Tinsley and his alleged shooter were engaged in a verbal dispute. As it intensified, Tinsley armed himself with a blunt object as well as a handgun and began threatening the alleged shooter with physical harm.

At that point, the alleged shooter armed himself and fired at Tinsley.

The alleged shooter was detained at the scene and taken to police headquarters for questioning.

Following subsequent interviews, he was released.
