TEXARKANA, AR (KSLA) - A Texarkana man will get a second chance in court after he was found guilty of murder in a 2015 shooting.
Marvin Stanton was sentenced to life in prison, and fifteen years for the shooting death of 22-year-old Jessie Hamilton.
However, a judge declared the original trial as a mistrial. The judge explained that Stanton's attorney may have been a possible witness to the crime, making him an ineffective attorney.
According to Arkansas State Law 37, an ineffective attorney must recuse themselves, but a new trial has been ordered.
The date for Stanton's new trial has not been set.
