SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A man is fighting for his life after a shooting in Shreveport's Mooretown neighborhood.

First responders found 29-year-old Martez Hublin about 7:03 p.m. Monday on Rochester Drive between Ralph Place and Waters Place, Caddo 911 dispatch records show.

He had a gunshot wound to his midsection.

Hublin was taken to the 4500 block of Rochester by private vehicle.

Investigators suspect he was shot about a half mile east of there at Illinois Avenue at Kennedy Drive.

"Based on preliminary information gathered, it is believed the victim and shooter were initially engaged in a verbal dispute while standing near the intersection," police Cpl. Marcus Hines said.

That's when an unidentified male pulled out a gun, shot Hublin then fled.

The wounded man was in serious condition when Shreveport Fire Department medics took him the rest of the way from Rochester Drive to University Health.

Police say they have not identified a suspect.

Authorities urge anyone with any information about the case to contact Shreveport-Caddo Crime Stoppers by calling (318) 673-7373, visiting the organization's website, lockemup.org, or using the P3Tips app.
