SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A Shreveport man will learn next month how long he must serve in prison for indecent behavior with a juvenile.
As part of an agreement, 65-year-old Ezekiel Ruben faces two to 20 years in prison at hard labor, with the first two years to be served without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
The charge ordinarily carries a penalty of two to 25 years at hard labor, the Caddo district attorney's office reports.
However, both sides agreed to the court putting a cap on the length of the sentence.
Ruben was arrested June 20, 2016, and booked into Shreveport City Jail on a charge of molestation of a juvenile as a result of a police investigation into a complaint a woman filed on behalf of her 5-year-old daughter.
"The child victim's statement to authorities contained details that were confirmed in Ruben's statement," says a statement from the district attorney's office.
Ruben is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 20 in Caddo District Court in Shreveport.
Meantime, he is being held in Caddo Correctional Center.
