SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A three-year-old boy is being treated for injuries after being shot on Saturday afternoon.
Officers got the call just before 6:30 p.m. to a Shreveport hospital after they received reports of a child that was injured by gunfire was brought in.
Willhite said that the child was struck once in the left leg, and his injuries are expected to be non-life threatening.
Details are few right now. Police are working to find out more information at this time, according to Shreveport police Spokeswoman Cpl. Angie Willhite.
Officers were told that the child was shot inside of a car in the 2700 block of Murray Street. However, when officers arrived on Murray Street, a car matching the description given was not found.
A shell casing was found in the front yard of the home where the shooting was supposed to have happened. However, investigators realized that it was not a fresh shell casing and had been out there for some time.
Detectives are being sent to the 2700 block of Murray to investigate.
