BOSSIER PARISH, LA (KSLA) - Over 1000 triathletes from over 20 states will be competing in the 38th Annual River Cities Triathlon on Sunday.
The event will be held at Cypress Black Bayou Park.
The River Cities Triathlon is one of the longest triathlons in the south. The race consists of a half mile swim, 18.2 mile bike ride and 3.1 mile run.
On Saturday, over 200 children between the ages of 7 and 14 will compete in the Iron Fish Kids Triathlon. For many, this will be the first triathlon they compete in.
The triathlon is one of the fastest growing Olympic sports, and triathlons like the Iron Fist contribute to the sport's growth and development, according to event organizers.
Despite the August heat and challenging hills, the River Cities Triathlon has been voted one of the best triathlons in the south.
