Man makes first court appearance after discovery of body in back yard

TEXARKANA, AR (KSLA) - A Texarkana man charged with abuse of a corpse after police found a body buried in his backyard made his first court appearance on Monday.
Chad Jernigan, 41, went before a Miller County circuit judge on the charge of abuse of a corpse.
Acting on a tip last week, Texarkana Arkansas police found the body they believed to be of Richard York buried underneath a storage facility at Jernigan's home.
York had been reported missing for more than a year. Police are waiting on the autopsy for a positive identification.
Judge Wren Autrey set bond at $150,000 and set August 7th as the next court date for official arraignment.
