Deputy accused of hitting woman

TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) - Texarkana, Texas, police arrested a Bowie County, Texas, sheriff's deputy Monday morning for allegedly hitting a woman.
The woman told police that 38-year-old Stephen Preston Powell hit her several times during an argument.
Investigators say the woman had bruises to her face that were consistent with the alleged assault.
Later, officers learned that the woman and Powell once lived together.
Powell now is free on $3,000 bond after having been arrested on a charge of assault with bodily injuries.
