NATCHITOCHES, LA (KSLA) - Natchitoches police are investigating the death of a baby after he was kidnapped and burned Monday night.

Police say they were called out to the Mayberry Trailer Park around 9:10 p.m. for a call about a 6-month-old being taken from a woman's home.

The mother told police two unknown people came to her trailer beating on her door. She says when she opened the door she was sprayed in the face with something she thought was mace.

That's when police say the woman ran away from the attackers and when she returned the infant was gone.

Officers started searching the area and called Natchitoches Police Department, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office, Louisiana State Police and Northwestern State University Police Department.

At around 10:20 p.m. officers got a call about a fire on Breda Avenue and they discovered a baby about 6-month-old with obvious burns over his body.

The baby was taken to a Natchitoches hospital in critical condition, then airlifted to a hospital in Shreveport where he later died from his injuries.

Police say no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
