Texarkana Museum Systems celebrates Harry Potter's birthday all July

TEXARKANA, USA (KSLA) - Listen up all wizards, witches and Harry Potter fans. The Texarkana Museums System will be celebrating Harry Potter's birthday all month!

Even though Harry's birthday is on July 31, events are planned every Saturday at the Texarkana Museums System. Each day will host a magical event designed to train young witches and wizards.

Each event is $8 or all four events are $25. Texarkana Museums System members (family membership or higher) pay just $3 per event or $10 for all 4 events.

Saturday, July 7 - Sorting Day

Museum of Regional History (219 N. State Line Avenue)  1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Every young wizard and witch will be sorted into one of four groups and each group will choose their own house name, colors, mascot and design their own house banner which will be used during the month's remaining three events.

Saturday, July 14 - Spell Books and Potions

Discovery Place Children's Museum (215 Pine Street) 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Every wizard and witch will make a potion they can drink and craft a spell book.

Saturday, July 21 - Wand Making Workshop

Ace of Clubs House (420 Pine Street) 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Every wizard and witch will be able to make and customize their own magical wand.

Saturday, July 28 - House Awards and Mystery Party

P.J. Ahern Home (403 Laurel Street) 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Harry Potter Month wraps up with house awards and a mystery party. The House Cup has been stolen and wizards, witches and their families can compete to solve the mystery.
