NATCHITOCHES, LA (KSLA) - People and families from all over Louisiana will be heading to Natchitoches to celebrate America's birthday.

They are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to line the Cane River Lake to watch the fireworks display. Some people will even be on their boats.

Visitors are encouraged to shop and eat local in the downtown area before the fireworks start.

"Natchitoches is very unique. The most beautiful thing I think whenever I watch fireworks is I see the reflection of the fireworks actually in the water, so that is something unique that we have," the Public Relations Manager of the city Janna Jenkins said.

Everything is centrally located so Jenkins says you can "walk, shop, eat, play all in the downtown area."

The downtown riverbank will be closed to all motorists throughout Wednesday.

At 8:30, the Church Street Bridge as well as Williams Avenue from Whitfield to Henry will be closed until the fireworks are over.

The fireworks will start at 9 p.m.
