ARKLATEX (KSLA) - Young Scholars is continuing to host their STEM camps in Northwest Louisiana. This week's topic revolved around Engineering and Design.
The students at LSU-Shreveport were able to take their ideas, draw out a plan, and put their ideas into action.
Their task was to build a cell phone tower that would be sturdy enough to withstand high winds and an earthquake. They drew out their plan and asked for a specific amount of materials. The team that was able to complete the task with the least amount of money spent won the competition.
All of the students said they've had fun this week and learned new information. One student even said she decided to take this course because she wants to be an engineer when she grows up.
There are still two camps scheduled for the month of July. One is centered around STEM Discovery and the other Robotics.
