BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) - Bossier City Council members agreed Tuesday to include 10 more firefighters in next year's budget.

Fire Chief Brad Zagone asked council members Tuesday to authorize the hiring of 10 more firefighters to staff a fifth front-line ambulance.

Bossier City has four front-line ambulances staffed 24/7 and five reserves.

The fire chief has said that the fifth ambulance likely will be housed at Fire Station 3 off Airline Drive, where there is a large volume of calls.

The department would use one of its reserve ambulances.

Funding for the added manpower will come from the EMS and Enterprise funds, which support themselves.

The 10 hires will increase the Fire Department's work force to 206.
