MARION COUNTY, TX (KSLA) - An East Texas gunshot victim is being treated in a Shreveport hospital.
And the East Texas man suspected of shooting him is in jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Authorities found 28-year-old Fredrick Wayne Thomas suffering from gunshot wounds Monday morning in a house on Farm-to-Market Road 2683 in the northeastern part of the county.
The Marion County man was flown by helicopter to a Shreveport hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
The discovery was made after first responders were asked to make a welfare check and possible ambulance call at the residence, the Marion County Sheriff's Office reports.
Now 39-year-old Prentis Earl Smith II, also of Marion County, remains in the Marion County Jail in Jefferson, Texas.
His bonds total $175,000.
Smith was arraigned Tuesday morning by Justice of the Peace Lena Pope.
