CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) - Motorists in part of Caddo will have to detour for about four months while parish highway workers replace a bridge.

The span is on Linwood Avenue just south of Southern Loop.

Those who use the bridge will have to find an alternate route starting May 14.

Parish officials suggest that those traveling south on Linwood detour via Southern Loop to Interstate 49 to Stonewall-Frierson Road (Louisiana Highway 3276) and then back to Linwood.

The reverse will be true for northbound motorists: Linwood to LA 3276 to I-49 to Southern Loop then back to Linwood.

The new bridge and related road improvements, a project costing about $1.1 million, "will ensure decades of durability and safety for motorists that utilize the bridge," says a statement from the parish.

The new span will have a greater load limit.
