3 arrested in missing teen case
SHELBY COUNTY, TX (KSLA) - Three people are facing kidnapping charges after a teen went missing in Shelby County on Wednesday.
Melony Skye Anderson, 15, was last seen on Wednesday at Timpson ISD in the afternoon.
Shelby County Sheriff Willis Blackwell reports that 15-year-old Melony Anderson was found safe and unharmed in Batesville, MS on Thursday and three people were taken into custody.
Elizabeth Sanford, 36, Laurel Smith, 22, and Shannon Leonard, 27, all of Center, TX, were arrested by the Batesville Police Department on kidnapping warrants out of Shelby County.
Shelby County Sheriff's Office investigators were able to ping a phone belonging to one of the suspects.
Their whereabouts were passed on to the Texas Rangers who kept Batesville police abreast on their location.
Investigators will travel to Mississippi Monday, May 7 with Hicks to interview the subjects.
They will be taken before a magistrate in Mississippi to sign extradition, after which they will be picked up by Shelby County deputies and taken back to Center for arraignment on kidnapping charges.
This case is still under investigation at this time.
