NEW BOSTON, TX (KSLA) - New Boston's secretary will keep her job after surviving a vote of no confidence Thursday evening.

Council members debated firing Darla Faulknor at a 6 p.m. meeting.

Faulknor oversees New Boston's budget and finance operations.

Originally it was believed Faulknor was resigning, but it turns out, some members of city council were looking to fire her.

It would have been the second shake-up at city hall in less than a week.

Former New Boston Police Chief Tony King was let go on Friday.

The decision about Faulknor's job came on the heels of well-publicized sparring with councilman Joe Dike.

He was the city leader who fought to oust former police chief King.
