Construction set for 13 mile stretch of I-20

CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that on Monday, April 30 work will begin on a $17.2 million project to significantly improve the traveling experience on Interstate 20.

The interstate stretches from the Texas state line to just east of Monkhouse Drive in Shreveport, Caddo Parish.

This project will patch, mill, and overlay over 13 miles of the interstate in both directions, as well as the shoulders.

As part of this work, there will be nightly lane closures within the project limits, scheduled to take place from approximately 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

This first phase of construction is anticipated to last approximately 60 days. The second phase of construction will follow and will be covered under an additional notification at that time.

While the progress of construction activities is dependent on weather conditions, this project is expected to be complete in Spring 2019.

The alternate route will be US 80.
