SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Shreveport police released the name of the motorcyclist killed on Tuesday night.
Christopher Parker, 41, of East Texas, was killed when his motorized bicycle was struck by a Ford pickup truck in the eastbound lane of the 4400 block of Hilry Huckaby II Avenue.
After being hit by the pickup, he was thrown from his bicycle into the westbound lane of travel and struck by a car.
Shreveport police say that Parker's bicycle was only equipped with a front reflector and not equipped with a flashing safety light, as required by law.
Parker was also not wearing a DOT approved helmet.
Both drivers were taken to Shreveport Police Department where they voluntarily submitted to required chemical testing.
Shreveport police urge cyclists to equip their bicycles with lights and reflectors. Cyclists are urged to wear bright, reflective clothing and always wear a helmet.
