BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) - Bossier City police have confirmed a pedestrian has died after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday night.

A Bossier City officer saw a body in the street in the 2500 block of Barksdale Blvd. just south of the Airline intersection around 9 p.m.

Witnesses tell police the man was struck by a Chevrolet Cruze driving northbound in the outside lane of traffic while the pedestrian was trying to cross the street.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to police.

The pedestrian's name is not being released at this time pending notification of family.

Police say the crash was unavoidable for the driver of the vehicle. No citations were issued.

The Bossier City Police Department is on the scene trying to piece together what happened.
