LifeCare Hospitals of Shreveport's main campus closing

LifeCare Hospitals of Shreveport to close hopsital

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A medical center that provides extended care to patients will be closing its main campus in Shreveport.

LifeCare Hospitals Of Shreveport's Linwood Avenue campus will "discontinue patient care services" either on or before March 31, according to an email from Laura Elkins, a senior account executive for Lovell Communications, Inc.

However, the North Campus on Kings Highway and Pierremont Campus on Youree Drive will not close.

Elkins wrote that she anticipates most of the patients at the main campus will be able to complete their recovery. Further admissions will be limited at the main campus, and other patients that need ongoing care will be transferred to another facility.

In addition, Elkins added:

The healthcare industry is constantly evolving and a number of factors influenced our decision to make this change, including, but not limited to, Shreveport's medical environment, regulatory changes, referral patterns and other market dynamics. These decisions are never made easily or without intense consideration of the overall impact of all parties involved.
