TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) - Texarkana, Texas, police have arrested the husband of the woman who was found shot in her head in an alley.
"He has not been charged with anything related to his wife's homicide," authorities say in a statement.
Investigators do, however, suspect that 27-year-old Travon Walker was involved in a disturbance Tuesday night in the 200 block of Apache Trail during which several shots were fired.
And they think that 23-year-old Kaitlin Lee might have been struck by a stray bullet from that gunfire.
Witnesses have told detectives that Walker pointed a pistol at someone during the disturbance and fired at least one shot.
"It is not known at this point if Walker fired the shot that ultimately killed Lee," the police statement says.
Police got a report about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday about the disturbance involving about 20 juveniles.
The 9-1-1 caller told police that several gunshots had been fired and that the group had fled toward Wade Lane.
Less than 10 minutes after officers arrived on the scene, police got a call about a woman with a gunshot wound to her head lying in an alley south of Brookwood Drive.
Lee was taken to Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, where she died early Wednesday morning.
And Walker now is being held in Bi-State Jail on a charge of deadly conduct.
Lee's death marks the first homicide this year in Texarkana, Texas.
Authorities urge anyone with any information about the homicide to call Texarkana, Texas, police at (903) 798-3116 or Texarkana Area Crime Stoppers at (903) 793-STOP.
