Operation Christmas Wish to kick off this morning

BOSSIER PARISH, LA (KSLA) - Bossier Parish Sheriff Julian Whittington and the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office will do the work of Santa Claus by bringing toys to children on Thursday morning.

Over 150 children will receive gifts starting at 9 a.m. at the Viking Drive substation. After meeting and starting with a prayer, the team and Mr. Claus will make deliveries around the parish.

The event, Operation Christmas Wish, is a partnership between BPSO, Toys for Tots and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas.

"So many folks in our community have also donated toys and money to help the Sheriff's Office be a blessing to children in need in our parish," said Sheriff Whittington in a news release.  "People with generous hearts have given so that others may also experience part of the wonder of Christmas - a present just for them."

In the past, BPSO participated in Operation Santa Claus, a similar program. Operation Christmas Wish focuses only on children in Bossier Parish
