Crews hope 'Green Book' filming means some movie work will come up north

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Streets in part of downtown Shreveport closed to all but 1960s-era cars Sunday morning.

Crews were filming for Peter Farrelly's drama "Green Book."

It was a second unit on a smaller shoot.

That means Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali ("Moonlight"), Oscar-nominated actor Viggo Mortensen "Captain Fantastic" and none of the major motion picture's other stars were in town for it.

But filmmakers and crew members hope it is a sign that some work will continue to come up north.

"New Orleans is starting to benefit," film crew member Bryan Delorenzo said.

"The plans in New Orleans are a lot of filmmaking over the next six months.

"The hope is it comes back up here."

The "Green Book" shoot is the first major project to be shot in Shreveport since the TV show "Salem" ended in 2016.
