Raymond Crews elected to represent District 8
Republican Raymond Crews addresses supporters at a watch party Saturday night after reaching the runoff for the Louisiana District 8 House Seat.

ARKLATEX (KSLA) - Raymond Crews was elected to serve as Louisiana's district 8 representative in Saturday's runoff election.

Unofficial results on the Louisiana Secretary of State's website show Crews received a total of 64 percent of votes with Robert Hal "Robbie" Gatti Jr. getting 36 percent.

Both Crews and Gatti are both Republicans. Crews is a retired Air Force B-52 and later commercial airline pilot. Gatti is an ordained minister and former small business owner.

According to the Louisiana Secretary of State website, Crews had 64 percent in early voting and Gatti had 36 percent.

In March, Crews led all candidates with an overall total 41 percent. Gatti came in a close second at 37 percent.

In Caddo Parish, voters were asked to renew four parish-wide property taxes in support of public facilities; public health facilities; juvenile court and detention; and the Caddo Parish Courthouse. However, voters chose not to renew the millages and all of them failed.

Also on the ballot for Caddo's voters is was whether to rededicate a 1 percent sales tax and a 0.5 percent sales tax in Sales Tax District 1. It also failed.
