Shreveport man captured after leading police on chase in N. Bossier

HAUGHTON, LA (KSLA) - A Shreveport man is in custody after leading state police and deputies on a chase in north Bossier late Friday morning.

According to Louisiana State Police, troopers were trying to pull 43-year-old William Riggs over on Bellevue Rd. north of Hwy 80 just before noon for a traffic stop when he refused to stop and took off instead.

Riggs led troopers and Bossier sheriff's deputies on a chase in his 1996 Dodge pickup, exceeding the speed limit and passing other vehicles illegally before finally stopping in the Dogwood south subdivision.

Police say Riggs tried to flee on foot from there but was taken into custody without further incident a short time later.

Riggs will be charged with aggravated flight from a police officer and was also wanted on an outstanding warrant from Shreveport police.

The incident remains under investigation and police say more charges are possible.
