1 arrested, 1 sought after police chase leads to gunfire

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - One person is in custody and another is being sought after a brief car chase led to shots being fired Sunday morning in Shreveport's Queensborough neighborhood.

No injuries were reported.

A Louisiana State Police trooper tried to pull over a burgundy Toyota Corolla for a traffic violation near Interstate 20 at Greenwood Road about 5 a.m. Sunday, authorities said.

The driver failed to stop and, instead, police on a car chase that ended when he ditched the vehicle in the 2300 block of Bessie Street, Trooper First Class Matt Harris said.

A passenger pulled a handgun out from his waistband and fire shots as he bolted out of the vehicle, Harris said.

The driver of the Corolla was taken into custody without incident.

Shreveport police set up a perimeter around the area, but the passenger has not been found.

Authorities described him as standing 6'2" tall and was wearing a stocking cap and a dark-colored hoodie.

At last report, he was believed to be in the Queensborough area.
