(KSLA) - While no injuries were reported in last weekend's storms in Natchitoches Parish, the parish highway department crews were busy trying repair portions of one road that were washed away in the higher waters.

Between Natchitoches and Rapides Parishes, portions of Lena-Flatwoods Road were turned into mounds of wet, caked mud. Crews reported this happens on some parish roads without enough drainage.

"It's pretty dangerous, though," said Jimmy Cannon, a Natchitoches Parish Highway Department crew member.

"You can knock all your front end out of line on your vehicle, and you could also knock the front end out from under it if you're going too fast."

Crews worked all of Monday morning to bring in gravel and rock to make the washed-out roadway passable for residents in both parishes to pass through.

Other than those portions of Lena-Flatwoods Road, the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office reported all other roads were clear.

The parish highway department told KSLA they are still working to take stock of the rest of the parish roads but they don't anticipate any other damage elsewhere.
