2 house fires in Shreveport; lightning may have hit one
Firefighters suspect arson in house fire.

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Shreveport firefighters worked two structure fires Sunday afternoon.

The latest was reported at 2:41 p.m. on Lillian Street between San Jacinto and Grove avenues, Caddo 911 dispatch records show.

Authorities report a house possibly was struck by lightning.

There were reports of sparks from the back of the dwelling.

Ten units responded; that number now is down to one.

Firefighters still are trying to get control of a fire reported at 2:24 pm. in the 4600 block of U.S. Highway 71.

Flames were engulfing a one-story house between Regmar and Scherer drives when firefighters arrived.

Authorities said it is not yet known whether that dwelling was occupied.

There's also no determination as yet on what caused that fire.

Ten fire units remain at that scene.

The city is reminding residents that they should call 911 only for emergencies. Call (318) 675-2151 to report any non-emergency, weather-related issues.
