SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Lightning is suspected of sparking at least two of three oil storage tank fires April 2.
The fires at two tanks in Caddo Parish are contained and are being allowed to burn themselves out, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office Reports.
More than a dozen Shreveport and Caddo fire units were called about 10:15 a.m. to a tank fire along Louisiana Highway 1 between Gayle Red Bluff and Bunker roads, Caddo 911 dispatch records show.
The sheriff's office says it involved a QEP Resources tank containing crude oil and salt water on the west side of Hwy 1 at Benteler Drive.
At 4:15 p.m. a motorist reported a tank on fire on the east side of Hwy. 1 at Bunker Road.
That tank is owned by Aethon Energy and also contained oil and salt water, the sheriff's office reported.
A tank fire also was reported in the Waskom, Texas, area.
