CADDO PARISH, LA (KSLA) - The Caddo Parish Grand Jury returned three true bills Thursday charging two men each with second-degree murder and a third man with two sex crimes.
Kenneth Burnett Jr., of Shreveport, 35, was charged with first-degree rape of a person under age 13 and sexual battery on a victim under age 13. His bond has been set at $200,000.
John Chatman of Shreveport, 30, was indicted for second-degree murder in connection with the slaying of 25-year-old Donald Young of Shreveport.
Young was found in the parking of the McDonald's restaurant in the 1100 block of Kings Highway with a gunshot wound to the chest on December 17, 2016. He succumbed to his wound January 20. Police say Chatman pulled up alongside Young as he was driving north on I-49 and opened fire.
The man police believe knocked on the door of a Woodlawn Terrace Apartments on January 12 and fatally shot the man who answered, 21-year-old Arriaus Earl Taylor, was also true-billed for second-degree murder. Police say Taylor shot 21-year-old Tellmell Leon Lyons multiple times at his home in Cedar Grove. Police say the two men knew each other and believe the shooting was possibly related to an ongoing feud between them.
All three men are in custody at Caddo Correction Center.
