TEXARKANA, AR (KSLA) - The mother of missing Texarkana, Ark., woman is mourning the loss of a daughter who was found slain and buried in a shallow grave in Ogden, Ark.
"And that no respect for my child and took her and buried her in a dirt, a cold hole in the ground," Janice Reed moaned.
Authorities say 56-year-old Tony Taylor, of Texarkana, Ark., led detectives Wednesday afternoon to a remote wooded area east of Ogden, Ark., where they found his girlfriend 35-year-old Crystal Reed's body buried in a shallow grave.
He later was booked into Bi-State Jail in Texarkana on one count each of first-degree murder and tampering with physical evidence after leading .
"And he came over here after he knew he had killed my baby, and he came in my face and asked me if I had seen her," Janice Reed said.
Police say Taylor has confessed to fatally stabbing Crystal Reed in her residence Smith-Keys Village Apartments in Texarkana, Ark., then wrapping her body in a blanket and carrying it down a flight of stairs to his vehicle.
"My baby told me, and she said these words to her mama. She said, 'Mama, if anything ever happens to me, you will know who did it. You will know he did it'," Janice Reed said.
Crystal Reed's family now only can remember a life they say was taken to soon.
"Crystal was a nice girl; she didn't deserve this," said Earnestine Rayfield, a friend.
Taylor now is being held in the Miller County, Ark., Jail while awaiting his first court appearance. No bond has been set.
"I tried to keep Crystal safe, my baby, but it did not work out that way," Janice Reed said.
