MANSFIELD, LA (KSLA) - The State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating after a Mansfield man was found dead inside his burning home early Monday morning.

Investigators say fire crews were called to the 1600 block of Shallow Horne Road early Monday morning for reports of a fire.

The lifeless body of 49-year-old Timothy Z. Lee was found in a bedroom of the home after firefighters doused the flames.

After examining the victim's body, investigators released it to the DeSoto Parish Coroner for an autopsy.

Officials say the fire started in the bedroom and spread throughout the home causing extensive damage.

Firefighters discovered the fire alarms were not working in the home at the time of the fire.
