SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - Shreveport Police say they have arrested the suspect accused of fatally shooting two people overnight in the Mooretown neighborhood in Shreveport.

Just before 12:00 p.m. on November 20, 2016, Shreveport Police patrol officers say they were called to a home located in the 2700 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, after receiving information that 25-year-old Arthur Anderson was possibly at the residence.

Anderson was wanted in connection with the double murder of a man and woman who were gunned down in the 4000 block of Crosby Street just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday night.

After further investigation, authorities say they were able to confirm the identity of Anderson and he was taken into police custody without incident.

The Caddo Parish Coroner's Office has identified the two victims as 37-year-old Huey Leonard and 27-year-old Ashley Williams.

Shreveport police say a 911 call led officers to the area where they discovered Leonard and Williams fatally shot inside a 2015 Nissan Versa with multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Police believe the victims were driving westbound on Crosby Street when the vehicle was forced off the road by another and came to rest in a ditch.

Police say Anderson approached the vehicle and fired several rounds from a handgun striking the two victims in the upper body.

Leonard was pronounced dead at the scene. Williams was rushed to University Health, where she was pronounced dead at 11:29 p.m.

Police believe Anderson and Williams were romantically involved at some point.

Autopsies for both victims are planned.

Anderson was transported and booked into the Shreveport City Jail on an outstanding warrant charging him with two counts of second-degree murder.  His bail as been set at $750,000.

Detectives say they are still in the process of conducting additional investigations into Anderson's arrest.
