TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) - The search is on in Texarkana, Texas for a man who reportedly tried to run over an officer before leading police on a high speed chase.

It all started around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Police say one of the officers arriving on the scene of a reported kidnapping on Jameson St. was nearly run over as the suspect fled in his car.

That led to a high-speed chase that ended on Bottoms Rd. in the Liberty Eylau area, where the man got out of the car after crashing into a ditch and fled on foot into the woods.

There was no one else in the vehicle. A search of the area turned up no sign of the man.

The reported kidnapping that brought police to Jameson St. has not been confirmed.
